The Journey Neighbourhood Centre
The year 2013 was a significant year in the Ardglen/Orenda. The year started with a tragedy – the shooting death of Kesean Williams. It was a terrible time for the community. A young boy was lost and it left many people in the community questioning their safety and what needed to change.
The year ended with what we believe is another significant event – the opening of The Journey Neighbourhood Centre. The Journey’s opening was a response to more then just one tragedy. It was a response to a community facing many challenges. (About Us – The Journey Neighbourhood Centre)

H.O.P.E. Prophey Elias
H.O.P.E. – Helping Others Prophet Elias is a charitable initiative focused on helping others through hands-on mission work and fundraising. Collaborating alongside the existing entities within the Greek Orthodox Community of Mississauga, our objective is to provide “HOPE” for those who are in need through volunteer outreach programs in the GTA
The dedicated administrators of the H.O.P.E. program search for, partner with and organize initiatives with various agencies to bring volunteer opportunities to the H.O.P.E. volunteer group. Within its first year, H.O.P.E. mission work has brought “HOPE” through volunteer time/efforts, food donations, clothing donations and street distributions to a total of 8 different agencies and hundreds of people currently living on the streets of the GTA!
Within this group, we encourage everyone to join us regardless of age, religion, cultural background, etc. All are welcome! On average, we aim to organize at least one initiative per month for volunteer and fundraising opportunities. (H.O.P.E | Helping Others Prophet Elias Prophet Elias Greek Orthodox Church)
